I would like to inquire if I might post some beautiful post-mortems on your "Victorian Post Mortems" board. It's a shame to let them go to waste, and I can't pin them myself, (on a board of my own) because I have children who go to my boards and they would freak!
Thank you for your consideration!

Hi Marti, sorry for the late response! I need the email adress or user name you use on Pinterest, then I can invite you to pin on my board.

Did the actual clamp on the head for live subjects most likely show above the ears (on an adult) or just under the head near the neck? BTW Beautiful site you have here!

Sorry for the confusion on my last comment. I have registered twice to be able to log onto the site but have not receive an email to 'finalize' the registration by getting an activation code. Tried a third time tonight but got a message that I am already registered. Tried to get on but the site says it's not a valid user name/password. I must be doing something wrong but not sure what.......

Google search for the stories behind the post mortem pictures
I have enjoyed your site so much especially the link for obituaries. Makes me thankful for vaccinations. Now when I go to antique stores, I look twice at the pictures that are for sale.
I have tried twice now to get an invite to the rest of your site but haven't received it yet. Would love to look at the rest of the pictures and read the stories behind them.
Thanks!

Bonnie, thanks for your kind message but I'm not sure what you mean with waiting for an invite. If you want to see the rest of the post mortem pictures you need to register here: www.antiquephotoalbum.nl/pmgalleries/
If that didn't answer your question then please let me know.
Thanks,
Boatswain

Searching for old pictures on the internet, mainly from the deceased in the Victorian era
Congratulations on your site. In addition to information, provides moments of deep emotion, with so many beautiful images, which carry up to us to the times in which we would have lived, and which unfortunately do not come back. Exciting ... and adorable ...

Very beautiful photos. I recently found out about post mortem photography and its a very fascinating subject because it reveals so much about how the people felt and grieved during the victorian era. Thank you for sharing those photos with us.

Searching for 'posed photos' on google, researching as a personal interest
Hi, the site is fantastic, thanks for creating this, some fascinating photos. I'd like to ask your opinion on something. To me one thing that stands out from these photos is that barely any of the people are smiling. Yet in modern day posed photos people tend to smile. Why do you think this is?
Replied on: 7:43pm 05-21-2011
Hi Phil,
Because exposure time took longer they had to sit still and not move. For children it was often a scary happening, seeing that weird device and the strange man behind it and often being strapped to a chair with a head clamp so they couldn't move their heads. Besides, you couldn't afford to mess it up because it was for many people still expensive to have their picture taken.
Nowadays we are used being photographed as part of our life.

I watched a documentary on the death of JonBenet Ramsey on YouTube, and there was a video suggestion on the side that said "Victorian Post-Mortem Photography." The creator mentioned this website as a source of the photos, and I've been a member ever since.
I wonder where you get all your photos? Do people send them or do you just go on 19th and 20th-century picture hunts?

Beautiful site. I am really enjoying it. The Victorian age still has such a hold on us, even more that a century later.
